About Me

Richard Gyllencreutz current research is focused on the glaciation history of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS), based on high-resolution seismics (chirp-sonar) and digital topography models of the sea floor from multibeam sonar mapping. He is also leading the development and updating of DATED, which is a series of reconstructions and a database with dates of the Eurasian ice sheet margins for the last glacial period. DATED is an ongoing project in collaboration with researchers at University of Bergen, Norway. Other research interests include paleoceanography of the Skagerrak and the North Sea, early- and mid-Weichselian glaciation history of the polar Urals, Russia, and late-Weichselian glaciation history of westernmost Norway. Richard Gyllencreutz teaches marine geology and digital handling of geological and geophysical data.
